My Community connects caring community volunteers with resource families in need of support. These volunteer teams come alongside resource families to offer both tangible and relational care, such as meals, random acts of kindness, and encouragement. The goal is to support resource families who are working hard each day to care for children who’ve experienced trauma, therefore helping to retain them. It can also provide opportunity for meaningful relationships to develop between resource families and volunteers. My Community is a great way for individuals in the community—who have a heart for children in foster care, but may be unable to become resource parents themselves—to have a direct and positive impact on kids experiencing foster care. This is just one more community layer coming around resource families and kids experiencing foster care to demonstrate and communicate they are loved and not alone.
